Hi
I so admire your work! I have some old tins but they are rather crusty…how do you clean them without ruining the graphic?
HI Joyce! It depends on what the “crust” is. If it’s rust, then sorry, it’s permanent. It helps to think of it as a patina. For anything else, it’s best to start out with the mildest cleaners, testing in a less noticeable spot, and work your way up. Soap and water, then Windex, then some oily residue remover like “Goo-Gone”, acetone, and finally, something like “Goof-Off”. But be very careful–those last three can remove the paint.
Thanks! I already ruined one trying to remove a glued sticker..sigh. Good luck on your shows and I think I have a custom bot you might be able to make for me when things slow down. How do I send you pics?
Aah, sticker goo. Tough one. Try “Goo-Gone, or a similar product, but test it first. As for sending me pics, you can email me at amy@ifobot.com.
