FOBOT infiltrates “Fine Crafts” exhibit

artspace-002Only a few days left to visit the “Fine Contemporary Crafts” juried exhibition at Artspace, Raleigh NC, and see “Weatherhead” on display.

I used the word “infiltrate” in the title because I just visited the exhibit again, and “Weatherhead” kinda sticks out like a sore thumb.  He’s funny, he’s accessible, he’s easy to understand.  He’s a robot.  Now, I’m not going to name any names or point any fingers, but MAN!  You should see some of the weirdness that passes for art.  Don’t get me wrong, there are some very lovely pieces that obviously took a lot of time, talent, and vision but some of these things look like there was a contest to glue together two or more materials that had never been glued together before and put a $1000+ price tag on it.  I guess “art” is whatever you can get away with.  Don’t I sound like a lowbrow hick now?  Whatever.  The emperor has no clothes.  There, I said it.

Also distressing, but in a different way–the lack of dots.  You artists know what I mean–only one of the pieces had a “sold” dot on it.  Times is tough.
